The ideal environment for a vinyl wrap installation is in an indoor facility with controlled temperatures. Indoor environments also reduce the amount of dust and contaminants on the surface of the vehicle. Unfortunately, many spaces are not large enough to fit larger vehicles inside and are subject to external temperatures. The temperature of adhesion makes a huge difference in the results of the application.

According to experts, the ideal temperature range to successfully install vinyl vehicle wrap is between 60 and 80 degrees. If the temperature is too cold, the vinyl will become stiff and brittle. It will also make the adhesive less sticky and prevent the vinyl from conforming to the surface of the vehicle. If the temperature is too hot, the adhesive becomes too sticky and difficult to handle. High temperatures can also cause the vinyl to stretch more than it should and potentially ruin the material.

While we can’t control the weather, there are a few things that can be done to improve the conditions. It is best to schedule installation times either in the early morning or evening to avoid the heat and direct sunlight. When the surface temperature is too high, misting the surface with water or application fluid can also be an effective method to cool the surface and allow for easier installation.
